Abnormal White discharge
Abnormal White Discharge (Leucorrhoea) – An Ayurvedic Perspective
In Ayurveda, abnormal white discharge is referred to as Shweta Pradara. It is not merely a local disorder but a reflection of deeper imbalance in Doshas, primarily Kapha and Vata. When these doshas become aggravated due to poor digestion (Mandagni), excessive stress, unhygienic habits, or hormonal imbalance, they vitiate Rasa Dhatu (the primary plasma tissue) and Apana Vata (the downward-moving energy). This leads to excessive or abnormal vaginal discharge, often accompanied by weakness, backache, or itching.
Common Ayurvedic Causes:
Kapha Dushti due to heavy, oily, or sweet food
Poor digestion leading to Ama (toxins) accumulation
Hormonal disharmony during puberty, postpartum, or menopause
Excessive sexual activity or chronic infection
Stress, insomnia, and emotional suppression affecting Vata
Ayurvedic Management Approach:
Deepana–Pachana: Correcting digestion and clearing Ama using herbs like Trikatu and Guduchi.
Stambhana & Rasayana Therapy: To strengthen reproductive tissues using Ashoka, Lodhra, and Shatavari.
Lifestyle & Diet: Favor light, warm, and easily digestible food. Avoid curd, sweets, and fried items. Maintain proper genital hygiene and manage stress with Yogasana and Pranayama.
In chronic cases, personalized Ayurvedic formulations like Chandraprabha Vati, Ashokarishta, or specific herbal blends (such as Chakrakosh’s feminine health formulations like Shwet pradar) help restore natural balance and strengthen reproductive health.
✨ Ayurveda reminds us that vaginal health is not just a symptom to treat, but a signal to nurture balance from within.
